The Style Risks You’re Not Sure Whether to Take

The laws of fashion are constantly changing, so how do we know when it’s okay to take a bold risk or try out a new trend?! The key is knowing how to pull them off within your own personal style.

  1. Denim on Denim

It’s no secret that ’90s trends are making a comeback. I’ll admit, a few years ago I wouldn’t have opted for the whole “Canadian Tuxedo” look, but times are a-changing. The secret to this look is achieving it without going overboard-Britney Spears/Justin Timberlake circa 2001 — so as long as you keep it simple, it’s totally achievable and A-Okay. This look has been demonstrated by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Zendaya, and Rihanna, and makes for an outfit that achieves the Three C’s — cute, comfortable, and casual. For a bolder take on this trend, go with a distressed or patched jean and/or a statement belt.

2. All Black Everything

Anna Wintour has been famously quoted saying she’d “never wear head-to-toe black,” but if you ask me, this look is fashion-forward and has the ability to be pulled off without seeming “gothic.” Color pieces are essential, but sometimes it’s just an all-black outfit kind-of-night. Black is a universally slimming and flattering color, and let’s be honest, has anyone ever not felt sexy while wearing all black?! Take a cue from style icon and overall-badass Victoria Beckham below, who is rocking this all-black look down to the sunglasses and clutch purse.

3. Camouflage

We’ve all seen the memes … and sure, the original intent of camouflage was to blend in, but nowadays people are wearing it to stand out. I’ll admit to having been hesitant about wearing camo pieces in the past, for fear of the “invisible” jokes, but so much of fashion is about taking risks, and this one is definitely worth a shot. 4. Juicy Couture Sweatsuits

Now I was SURE that these would stay in the early 2000s — where they belong — but low and behold, Kylie Jenner went posting a sexy Instagram snap wearing a pair of black, rhinestoned Juicy sweatpants last Monday, making them an instant trend once again. But seriously, Kylie Jenner could wear a hot dog costume and it would be turned into a trend … so you guys are on your own for this one.
