As we start to fully embrace the spring season, the realization that we must also accept the rain that comes with it begins to settle in. We struggle to find a day where the rain isn’t a constant bother and the sun can shine through. As college students, the need to walk everywhere proves to be a huge disadvantage in combatting the rain.
When you leave your door, the constant reminder of needing an umbrella attached to your hip never slips your mind, and if it does, like in my case, you’re bound to be sitting under any coverage you can find, awaiting the rain’s departure. Sometimes you find yourself confined to one childsized duck umbrella, which has happened more than once might I add.
Finding the right clothes to accommodate the warmer weather as well as the rain becomes the ultimate task, too. If you wear sandals, you’re bound to be thinking about wet feet throughout the duration of your lecture. On the flip side, wearing warmer clothing when it’s 80 degrees and raining will lead you to hate your choice of clothing even more than having wet feet.
However, through all of the rainy, gloomy days we must undergo, it is the days or even weeks where the rain moves out of sight and out of mind that we yearn for it. The days where the sun shines and the breeze picks up around a cool 70 degrees are the ones worth appreciating. So take those days and make the best of them, whether you’re heading out for a hike, or simply walking around town, you won’t regret your choice. It only makes it that much easier to accept the gloomy days where the rain takes over your mind.
P.S. If there happens to be a break in the rain, take the opportunity to catch a rainbow sighting. I mean what better way to brighten up a gloomy day.
