My Summer at Milk Makeup

My Summer at Milk Makeup

Hey everyone!

I’m finally back and better than ever. I’m pumped to blog again and I have tons of great stuff to share about my latest adventures in the makeup industry. Before I jump into anything, I’m going to brief you on what I did this summer.

I took the summer off from my blog, Alex Bertolini Makeup, to intern for the awesome up-and-coming cosmetic company, Milk Makeup. Spending the summer months in New York City was an absolute dream.

I worked as a production intern, so I had the opportunity to see what went into creating each product within the brand. From trying products and watching ideas for new products being generated, to looking into upcoming trends and how they would effect the next season’s must-haves.

Everyday was an experience for me.

Each day I worked on something new; either I was exploring Manhattan and visiting different Sephora and Urban Outfitter stores that sold Milk Makeup products, or working on different projects in the office. I was always excited about coming into work and being involved with the growth of the brand.

Today I’ll be sharing with you some of my favorite Milk Makeup products and why they should be staples in your makeup bag!

Sunshine Skin Tint

This product has been a game-changer for me. During the summer, I don’t like to wear foundation on a daily basis. It’s always sweating off and I don’t like looking like my makeup is caked on. This specific skin tint is infused with the same oils as Milk Makeup’s Sunshine Oil, which is super hydrating and awesome for your skin. The Sunshine Skin Tint has SPF 30 which is extremely important to prevent premature aging, and it’s never too early to start being more cautious!

The greatest thing about this product is the way that it feels on the skin. It comes in an easy-to-use rollerball, and one click goes a long way. The formula evens out the skin tone, gives it a dewy finish without being oily, and it’s light enough to make you feel as if you’re not wearing any makeup at all. This product embraces the natural skin but still provides just the right amount of coverage. If you are someone that prefers a minimal makeup look while still having semi-coverage, this Sunshine Skin Tint is for you.

Lip + Cheek– Okay, this next product is the one that I use every day. The Lip + Cheek comes in 4 different shades and I love it so much that I own 3 of them. Using this product is as simple as swiping on your cheek and blending with your fingers or a Beauty Blender. Applying to the lips is just as easy. Wherever you choose to use this product, it will give you a dewy-finish with just a flush of color.

The Lip + Cheek makes my skin look luminescent and fresh. One of my favorite things about it is that you can apply it with a full face of makeup or on clean skin alone.  If I roll out of bed and have to be somewhere in a hurry, I just swipe on some color with a little concealer and I’m out the door. My two favorite shades are Quickie (berry) and Rally (mauve with some sparkle). This product is definitely worth trying out if you’re tired of powder blush.

Lip Color– Honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan of lipstick before I tried this product. The formula itself is long-wearing, and doesn’t smudge throughout the day. Just like all cream-based lipsticks, it will smudge if you wipe it off, but when it comes to day-to-day tasks and wearability, it stays put.

The semi-matte finish isn’t shimmery or shiny, but it does have a slight sheen. It’s the perfect blend of matte and shine. The two shades that I love are Gnarly and C.R.E.A.M. The shade Gnarly is a cool, purple-pink, which is flattering on any skin tone. It’s definitely my go-to whenever I’m off for a night on the town or a casual dinner with some friends. C.R.E.A.M. is basically the perfect nude with flattering pink undertones. It has the slightest hint of color, which makes it one of my favorite nude lipsticks on the market right now.

Below is a list of my current Milk Makeup obsessions, as well as a few other favorites. Milk Makeup is such a creative and innovative beauty brand, so whether you want to try their products not, you should give them a follow on Instagram.

Sunshine Skin Tint $42

Lip + Cheek $24

Lip Color $22

Lip Marker $20 *Note: This is the longest-lasting lip color that I have ever tried. It’s seriously amazing. Just remember to store it standing up so that it doesn’t dry out.

Holographic Stick  $28 *FYI: This product is infused with real meteorite powder. How cool is that?

Gel Brow $18 *Best brow pencil that I’ve tried. Keeps the hairs in place and has a natural -looking color.

Matte Bronzer $24 *I forget the last time that I didn’t have this product on. It’s the perfect natural bronzer. This product alongside concealer and the Lip + Cheek is the trifecta to complete your daily makeup look.
