I Spent $100 on Glossier. Was it Worth it?

After a very stressful midterm week, I decided to treat myself by finally trying out the iconic beauty brand, Glossier.

If you haven’t heard of it, Glossier was started by Emily Weiss. The fashion stylist at Vogue started a blog titled Into the Gloss where she learned about what people want in beauty and raised a huge following of readers and fans. From this following, Glossier was born. The brand launched through Instagram, being one of the first brands centered around social media. Possibly the best thing about Glossier is that Weiss uses feedback and knowledge from Into the Gloss readers to develop perfect products that are exactly what you have been searching for. The brand is 100 percent made for millennials, featuring millennial pink and simple aesthetics on all of their products. They are also totally cruelty-free, too. Yay for animals!

What I purchased:

Boy Brow (Brown), a tinted brow gel meant to tame the brows while adding volume with small fibers. $16

Milky Jelly Cleanser, a cleanser that is exactly what it sounds like, milky and jelly. It is meant to be gentle and good for all skin types. $18

Cloud Paint (Dusk), Cloud Paint is a liquid blush that has the perfect amount of pigment so that it looks natural and radiant. $18

Priming Moisturizer (Rich), this moisturizer is on the thicker side, meant to hydrate your face so that it is perfect and ready for makeup. $35

Haloscope (Quartz), a cream highlighter that has a balm core for extra dewey skin. $22

Balm Dot Com (Birthday), a skin salve that is birthday cake scented with multi-colored sparkles. $12

My thoughts:

Firstly, the main reason I have not previously purchased anything from Glossier is the price. The brand is more expensive than drugstore products, but not as expensive as many things at Sephora. After adding everything I wanted to my cart, I was able to get my total to $101.70 by getting two products (Boy Brow and Haloscope) in a bundle that saved me  $8 and I got 20% off for using an influencer’s link (Margot Lee on YouTube). I realized that Glossier is actually pretty affordable which made me feel even better about my purchase.

Boy Brow:

This product is pretty amazing. I have been using drugstore fiber brow for a long time but they really do not compare to Boy Brow. My favorite way to use this product is on days when I am not wearing very much makeup. I can run Boy Brow through my brows and they are instantly darker, thicker and fuller.

Milky Jelly Cleanser:

Milky Jelly Cleanser is good, but I haven’t decided if it is better than what I was previously using from Neutrogena. The gel consistency feels amazing on the skin and it doesn’t dry me out, which is my main concern with cleansers. This is one of those products where the packaging really gets me. I love the simplicity and soft pink sitting on my bathroom sink.

Cloud Paint:

I purchased the shade Dusk after watching some YouTube swatch videos. This shade seemed the most unique and best for my skin tone. I really love this liquid blush and have been using it almost every day! It’s very thin and blends like a dream on the cheeks. I highly recommend checking this one out!

Priming Moisturizer:

I decided to purchase the rich version of Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer because I have very dry skin and wanted a new nighttime moisturizer that is better suited for fall and winter. Thankfully, this product did not disappoint. It has a thicker consistency that is perfect for keeping my skin hydrated over night. I think this is the start of a very good relationship.

Haloscope:

Haloscope is a very unique product that I knew I needed to try for myself. I do not dabble in cream highlighters very often until now. Haloscope gives the perfect, natural looking glow that is still super dewey. I purchased the more pink-toned shade, Quartz, which fun fact, has actual crystal particles in it.

Balm Dot Com:

Spoiler: This is my new obsession. I am very picky with my lip balms and this passed the test with flying colors. I ordered the shade Birthday because I LOVE birthday cake flavored things and this shade is clear with small multicolored glitters. Glossier also offers a few other shades that each have a different flavor and a different tint. This lip balm is thick, uber-hydrated, and feels so good to apply.

Overall, I was very pleased with my purchase. There was not one single product that let me down. If I had to pick, my favorite products would be Boy Brow and Balm Dot Com which have been fully-integrated into my daily routine. You will never catch me without my Balm Dot Com ever again.
