Holiday Gift Guide: Beauty Edition

It’s crunch time people! If you haven’t already, now is the time to start shopping for the holidays. I put together a little gift guide with products under $30 for all of those makeup lovers in your life.

For the highlight lover: Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Highlighter

This drop dead gorgeous highlighter was created by Instagram influencer Amrezy. It was originally limited edition, but the product had such a high demand, they decided to bring it back! The product is beautiful, the packaging is beautiful and it’s only $28.

For the eyeshadow palette lover: Huda Beauty Obsessions Palettes

These little baby eyeshadow palettes are so fun! There are currently 11 different color options available, so you can pick one that best suits whoever you are buying the gift for. The palettes are small and compact, which is great for travel or for someone who doesn’t have a lot of space. Plus they are $27 and so worth it.

For the lipstick lover: Fenty Beauty Mini Mattemoiselles

Whether you are a big lipstick fan or just a big Rihanna fan, this gift is perfect! You get two mini versions of the Mattmoiselle lipsticks in a dusty rose shade and a burgundy shade. They come in a little ornament that makes gifting it so fun and easy. $19

The Best Products for When You Want to Sparkle

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows

I have raved about ColourPop’s Super Shock Shadows before and that is because they are just that good. Especially when it comes to the metallic and shimmery shades. The photos pretty much speak for themselves. And they are only $5 a piece!!

Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows

Every YouTuber was raving about these liquid glitters last holiday season, but my obsession has not yet ended. The era of messy loose glitters and glitter adhesive is over. These easy to apply liquid glitters will make your eyelids shine like the top of the Chrysler Building (Annie reference anyone?). There is currently a set of 3 mini versions of these glitters at Sephora for only $25!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit

This highlight palette is also currently on sale at Sephora and is such a fun product to have in your collection when you are looking to add some color into your life. Each shade is a different color of the rainbow but in a subtle, cheek appropriate way. The shades contain a little bit of glitter, adding on to the dreaminess of the Moodchild Glow Kit.

Personally, nothing makes me happier than a makeup product with a little bit of sparkle. Whether you love it or hate it, the holidays are a great time to incorporate some glitter into your look.

Sephora Sale Recommendations

Ah, the annual Sephora sale. The time of the year to get ahead on Christmas gifts, browse all of the new holiday sets, and calculate how much of a discount you can get on the newest Dyson hair product (still not enough!).

If you are VIB or VIB Rouge, the sale has already ended. However, the Beauty Insider sale begins November 16 and lasts until November 19. You will get 15 percent off of your purchase using the code BIBONUS online or in store and you can use the discount multiple times throughout the weekend. If you are not already a Beauty Insider, it is completely free to sign up.

I always take this time to buy some Christmas presents for all of the other beauty lovers in my life.  I also, of course, make some purchases for myself (treat yo self am I right?). Here are some awesome products I recommend you try out!

This fun little Christmas set is a perfect solution for those super chapped, winter lips. Bite’s Agave Lip Mask is highly raved about and this set comes with the original clear shade, a champagne pink shade, and a soft pink candy cane shade to get you in that Christmas vibe for only $18.

I have heard nothing but great reviews about this new eyeshadow palette by Huda Beauty. I am a total sucker for rose gold, so this palette was right up my ally. This would be a great sale purchase because it is a whopping $65.

I got a similar version of this for Christmas last year and I just recently went through the last bottle! Basically, you get a set of different travel size texturing sprays from different brands. It is a great opportunity to try out different products to find out what you like best instead of wasting money buying a full-size bottle. I also love having these mini bottles for traveling. Plus, you get a fun rose gold makeup bag.

My sister and I got this for my mom for Christmas a few years ago and she loved it! You get samples of 15 different perfumes sold at Sephora, and once you try them all out and choose a favorite, you can use the provided voucher to get a full size of your favorite perfume! This is a perfect gift for someone who hasn’t tried many perfumes and wants to find out what they like before they spend the money.

Mark your calendars and save some money at Sephora this weekend!

The Affordable Skincare Device that Changed my Life

Yes, I am being dramatic. But having good skin can really change your mood. I have always had super dry, flaky skin. In middle school and high school, I would beg my mom to buy me exfoliators to help the problem, but she always said that they were too harsh for my skin.

Once I got a little bit older, I realized she was right. Using harsh exfoliators every day can really strip your skin which will only cause more dryness.

After my exfoliation obsession, I began researching devices like the Clarisonic. This is a a brush style skincare device that is meant to be used daily. The vibrating and spinning brush is meant to exfoliate and deeply cleanse the skin. While the Clarisonic sounded great, it is very expensive. I had also heard negative things about the fact that the brush heads can store a lot of bacteria which could cause acne.

After researching even further, I found the Foreo. This device is like the Clarisonic where it is a daily cleansing device that vibrates to give a gentle, daily exfoliation. The Foreo however, uses silicone instead of a brush head which is much more sanitary and will not hold bacteria. Again, the Foreo is $200 and way out of my price range.

But, after searching for hours on the internet, I found a dupe. With great reviews on Amazon, I made the $9.99 purchase with high hopes.

The device has different vibration settings for more or less exfoliation. I use it every single night while washing my face to get rid of dry, flaky skin and blackheads. It comes with a charger, but I have only used it a handful of times in the years that I have been using this product.

This silicone skincare device is basically the exact same thing as the Foreo and you can still afford your daily Pumpkin Spice Latte. I have been using the product every single day for years and it has yet to let me down. If you are on the hunt for a change in your skincare routine, I highly recommend checking this out!

I Spent $100 on Glossier. Was it Worth it?

After a very stressful midterm week, I decided to treat myself by finally trying out the iconic beauty brand, Glossier.

If you haven’t heard of it, Glossier was started by Emily Weiss. The fashion stylist at Vogue started a blog titled Into the Gloss where she learned about what people want in beauty and raised a huge following of readers and fans. From this following, Glossier was born. The brand launched through Instagram, being one of the first brands centered around social media. Possibly the best thing about Glossier is that Weiss uses feedback and knowledge from Into the Gloss readers to develop perfect products that are exactly what you have been searching for. The brand is 100 percent made for millennials, featuring millennial pink and simple aesthetics on all of their products. They are also totally cruelty-free, too. Yay for animals!

What I purchased:

Boy Brow (Brown), a tinted brow gel meant to tame the brows while adding volume with small fibers. $16

Milky Jelly Cleanser, a cleanser that is exactly what it sounds like, milky and jelly. It is meant to be gentle and good for all skin types. $18

Cloud Paint (Dusk), Cloud Paint is a liquid blush that has the perfect amount of pigment so that it looks natural and radiant. $18

Priming Moisturizer (Rich), this moisturizer is on the thicker side, meant to hydrate your face so that it is perfect and ready for makeup. $35

Haloscope (Quartz), a cream highlighter that has a balm core for extra dewey skin. $22

Balm Dot Com (Birthday), a skin salve that is birthday cake scented with multi-colored sparkles. $12

My thoughts:

Firstly, the main reason I have not previously purchased anything from Glossier is the price. The brand is more expensive than drugstore products, but not as expensive as many things at Sephora. After adding everything I wanted to my cart, I was able to get my total to $101.70 by getting two products (Boy Brow and Haloscope) in a bundle that saved me  $8 and I got 20% off for using an influencer’s link (Margot Lee on YouTube). I realized that Glossier is actually pretty affordable which made me feel even better about my purchase.

Boy Brow:

This product is pretty amazing. I have been using drugstore fiber brow for a long time but they really do not compare to Boy Brow. My favorite way to use this product is on days when I am not wearing very much makeup. I can run Boy Brow through my brows and they are instantly darker, thicker and fuller.

Milky Jelly Cleanser:

Milky Jelly Cleanser is good, but I haven’t decided if it is better than what I was previously using from Neutrogena. The gel consistency feels amazing on the skin and it doesn’t dry me out, which is my main concern with cleansers. This is one of those products where the packaging really gets me. I love the simplicity and soft pink sitting on my bathroom sink.

Cloud Paint:

I purchased the shade Dusk after watching some YouTube swatch videos. This shade seemed the most unique and best for my skin tone. I really love this liquid blush and have been using it almost every day! It’s very thin and blends like a dream on the cheeks. I highly recommend checking this one out!

Priming Moisturizer:

I decided to purchase the rich version of Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer because I have very dry skin and wanted a new nighttime moisturizer that is better suited for fall and winter. Thankfully, this product did not disappoint. It has a thicker consistency that is perfect for keeping my skin hydrated over night. I think this is the start of a very good relationship.

Haloscope is a very unique product that I knew I needed to try for myself. I do not dabble in cream highlighters very often until now. Haloscope gives the perfect, natural looking glow that is still super dewey. I purchased the more pink-toned shade, Quartz, which fun fact, has actual crystal particles in it.

Balm Dot Com:

Spoiler: This is my new obsession. I am very picky with my lip balms and this passed the test with flying colors. I ordered the shade Birthday because I LOVE birthday cake flavored things and this shade is clear with small multicolored glitters. Glossier also offers a few other shades that each have a different flavor and a different tint. This lip balm is thick, uber-hydrated, and feels so good to apply.

Overall, I was very pleased with my purchase. There was not one single product that let me down. If I had to pick, my favorite products would be Boy Brow and Balm Dot Com which have been fully-integrated into my daily routine. You will never catch me without my Balm Dot Com ever again.

Don’t Go Broke For Your Halloween Costume

As HallOUween weekend quickly approaches, more and more people begin to scramble for the perfect costume.

Because I love makeup, I always turn to YouTube beauty gurus for some inspiration and ideas for cool Halloween looks. Unfortunately, these looks tend to be created using expensive products that no one needs unless you’re a special effects artist.

After doing some research, I have found some more affordable alternatives to these products that you might only use one day a year, but are necessary to achieve your HallOUween dreams.

Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Collection

This entire collection of products was made specifically for Halloween, but it is not that crappy stuff you used when you were seven-years-old. These products have great reviews and have better credibility coming from an actual makeup brand. The product line ranges from a Makeup Forever Flash Palette dupe, the Fantasy Makers Paint Palette, to Mac Paint Pot dupescrazy eyelashes and bright-colored lipsticks. They also have collections of products to create a certain look like the Snow Suductress Bundle and the Dragon Queen Bundle.

You can check out the full collection here. You are bound to find a few products to use for your costume this year. These products have saved me loads of time, money, and stress. I would like to personally thank Wet n Wild for always looking out for us makeup lovers on a budget.

My Favorite Spooky Season Lipsticks

It is finally sweater weather and I have gone into full-fall mode. With fall comes the warm colors and fall makeup trends that I obsess over. Below you will find my current favorite lipsticks for PSL season that are sure to get you feeling ~spooky~

Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit – Rebel Rose

This liquid lipstick from Wet n Wild is the perfect fall transition color. It’s fall, but not too fall. The subtle, mauve color is easy to wear and the matte formula will last all day.

ColourPop Lippie Stix – Lumiere

I’ve used this ColourPop Lippie Stix so many times that the words on the packaging have completely worn off. This formula is perfect for those like me who love the look of matte lips, but can’t handle the drying formula of liquid lipstick. This lipstick is a more purple tone than the Wet n Wild Rebel Rose, and it’s guaranteed to get you into the fall mood.

Tarte Color Splash Lipstick – Set Sail

I received this lipstick by Tarte in a Sephora Play box last fall and I have been obsessed with it ever since. This lipstick feels so good to apply and has the perfect amount of pigment. Its warm undertones make it perfect for the fall season and will look super good while you are drinking that pumpkin spice latte.

Nude Stix Magnetic Matte Lip Color – Greystone

Nude Stix is a new, up-and-coming brand that can be found at Sephora. I purchased this lipstick after a YouTuber recommended the formula and I was looking for a good brown lip color. Thankfully, this one did not disappoint. The formula is super long-lasting and the mid-tone brown is so fall and so 90s.

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lipstick – Cinnamon Spice

It doesn’t get more affordable than this. This Wet n Wild lipstick is only $2.49 and is totally comparable to high-end lipsticks. I like to wear this more sexy, deep red color on fall nights out.

My Favorite Brand: Colourpop Cosmetics

I have been in love with this brand since the beginning. It all started just a few short years ago in 2014. The brand was founded by Seed Beauty (yes, the same parent company for Kylie Cosmetics) in Los Angeles, California. The ideas all come from a brother and sister duo, who had a vision to bring affordable prices and luxury quality together in makeup products.

It started with their Super Shock Shadow. An almost creamy, extremely pigmented eyeshadow whose formula is unmatched. Available for only $5 exclusively at, the brand took off.

Photo from:

Today, four years after launching, Colourpop continues to grow and thrive as an affordable brand that provides amazing products that fit the newest trends.

All of Colourpop’s products are made completely under one roof in Los Angeles and the products are only available on their website, which allows the brand to be SUPER affordable.

I first found the brand from listening to beauty influencers on YouTube rave about the products, and since I am always down for a good bargain, I gave it a shot. Even though the products are cheap, the quality is incredible. Colourpop products are truly my favorite. From eyeshadow, to lipstick, to concealer, they have yet to let me down!

Some of my favorite products are the Super Shock Shadows in La La, Birthday Girl and Sequin. I also adore their Ultra Glossy Lips and their Lux Lipsticks. And if you are looking for a new eyeshadow palette, I would HIGHLY recommend the Dream St. palette. It’s my everyday eyeshadow palette and I could not live with it.

After reading this, I hope I have convinced you to try out my all time favorite brand. They have a product for everyone and also never test on animals. What more can you ask for? Check out their website and social media pages for more products and swatches, and keep an eye out for sales.

Skincare on a Budget

Hi, my name is Haley and I am a skincare junkie. I am not ashamed to admit it. But skincare can be very expensive and I am a poor college student. So, I am going to share my favorite skincare products for those of you on a budget, like me.

Cleanser: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel

This cleanser is essential in my life. It removes all my makeup without drying out my already dry skin. It also comes with a pump that can be closed, which is super convenient for traveling. Basically, this cleaner checks all of my boxes at only $8.99.

Moisturizer: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream

As previously mentioned, I have very dry skin. Because of this, my moisturizer has a lot
of work to do. This one by Neutrogena does the trick without being overly greasy. The gel formula is refreshing on my skin and I just don’t know what I would do without it.

Pro tip: Check different drugstores and Ulta to find the cheapest version of the product and always look for coupons!

Winter moisturizer alternative: L’Oreal Hydra Genius for Extra Dry Skin

While I love the Neutrogena moisturizer, sometimes it can leave my dry skin wanting more during the colder months of the year. When that time comes, I turn to the L’Oreal HydraGenius for extra dry skin. This moisturizer is cream based rather than gel based. It is uber hydrating and it’s a lifesaver for my skin in the winter.

Mask: Elf Hydrating Bubble Mask

This mask will change everything you ever thought about affordable skincare. The mask is $14 on and can also be found at drugstores like Walmart or CVS. Basically, once you apply the mask to your skin, it becomes foamy and bubbles up until you look like Santa Claus. After the bubbles start to go down, you can rinse the mask off and you are left with perfect, glowing skin. This mask is great for you and is fun too.

Skincare is super important to the health of your skin. Avoid premature wrinkles with me and also save some money!

5 Makeup Products to Get You Through Midterms

As the school year continues and midterms approach, I find myself with less and less time for getting ready in the morning. At this time of year, sleep tends to take priority over winged eyeliner and a blinding highlight.

Here are a few of my favorites products for when you only give yourself a few minutes to get ready, but still want to look alive and awake.

  1. Concealer – Maybelline Fit Me

A little bit of concealer can really help liven up your entire face, especially if you have really dark circles under your eyes like I do. This one from Maybelline is easy to use and gets the job done without being too cakey or dry.

2. Brow gel – L’Oreal Brow Stylist Boost & Set Brow Mascara

I am that person that ALWAYS has my brows done. When I am in a hurry and don’t have time for all the steps, this brow gel can work in a pinch to add color and fullness.

3. Mascara – L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

Mascara is key to making your eyes look more awake and alive. My current favorite is the L’Oreal Lash Paradise that makes your lashes long and full and it never smudges.

4. Bronzer – Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer

Using a bit of bronzer on my cheeks always makes me look a little less like I’ve been sitting inside studying for days, and a little more like I am still on summer break at the pool. The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer is very natural and makes application easy. It also smells like a tropical heaven AND is currently on sale at!

5. Lipgloss – Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb

Finally, I don’t go anywhere without my Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow. This product looks good on every skin tone and can really liven up your whole face. Rihanna always has our back.

These 5 steps are my go-to during busy times of the year. Makeup is meant to be fun, and whether you do zero, all or even more than this, that’s totally cool! You do you boo.
