My Favorite Brand: Colourpop Cosmetics

I have been in love with this brand since the beginning. It all started just a few short years ago in 2014. The brand was founded by Seed Beauty (yes, the same parent company for Kylie Cosmetics) in Los Angeles, California. The ideas all come from a brother and sister duo, who had a vision to bring affordable prices and luxury quality together in makeup products.

It started with their Super Shock Shadow. An almost creamy, extremely pigmented eyeshadow whose formula is unmatched. Available for only $5 exclusively at, the brand took off.

Today, four years after launching, Colourpop continues to grow and thrive as an affordable brand that provides amazing products that fit the newest trends.

All of Colourpop’s products are made completely under one roof in Los Angeles and the products are only available on their website, which allows the brand to be SUPER affordable.

I first found the brand from listening to beauty influencers on YouTube rave about the products, and since I am always down for a good bargain, I gave it a shot. Even though the products are cheap, the quality is incredible. Colourpop products are truly my favorite. From eyeshadow, to lipstick, to concealer, they have yet to let me down!

Some of my favorite products are the Super Shock Shadows in La La, Birthday Girl and Sequin. I also adore their Ultra Glossy Lips and their Lux Lipsticks. And if you are looking for a new eyeshadow palette, I would HIGHLY recommend the Dream St. palette. It’s my everyday eyeshadow palette and I could not live with it.

After reading this, I hope I have convinced you to try out my all time favorite brand. They have a product for everyone and also never test on animals. What more can you ask for? Check out their website and social media pages for more products and swatches, and keep an eye out for sales.

Skincare on a Budget

Hi, my name is Haley and I am a skincare junkie. I am not ashamed to admit it. But skincare can be very expensive and I am a poor college student. So, I am going to share my favorite skincare products for those of you on a budget, like me.

Cleanser: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel

This cleanser is essential in my life. It removes all my makeup without drying out my already dry skin. It also comes with a pump that can be closed, which is super convenient for traveling. Basically, this cleaner checks all of my boxes at only $8.99.

Moisturizer: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream

As previously mentioned, I have very dry skin. Because of this, my moisturizer has a lot
of work to do. This one by Neutrogena does the trick without being overly greasy. The gel formula is refreshing on my skin and I just don’t know what I would do without it.

Pro tip: Check different drugstores and Ulta to find the cheapest version of the product and always look for coupons!

Winter moisturizer alternative: L’Oreal Hydra Genius for Extra Dry Skin

While I love the Neutrogena moisturizer, sometimes it can leave my dry skin wanting more during the colder months of the year. When that time comes, I turn to the L’Oreal HydraGenius for extra dry skin. This moisturizer is cream based rather than gel based. It is uber hydrating and it’s a lifesaver for my skin in the winter.

Mask: Elf Hydrating Bubble Mask

This mask will change everything you ever thought about affordable skincare. The mask is $14 on and can also be found at drugstores like Walmart or CVS. Basically, once you apply the mask to your skin, it becomes foamy and bubbles up until you look like Santa Claus. After the bubbles start to go down, you can rinse the mask off and you are left with perfect, glowing skin. This mask is great for you and is fun too.

Skincare is super important to the health of your skin. Avoid premature wrinkles with me and also save some money!

5 Makeup Products to Get You Through Midterms

As the school year continues and midterms approach, I find myself with less and less time for getting ready in the morning. At this time of year, sleep tends to take priority over winged eyeliner and a blinding highlight.

Here are a few of my favorites products for when you only give yourself a few minutes to get ready, but still want to look alive and awake.

  1. Concealer – Maybelline Fit Me

A little bit of concealer can really help liven up your entire face, especially if you have really dark circles under your eyes like I do. This one from Maybelline is easy to use and gets the job done without being too cakey or dry.

2. Brow gel – L’Oreal Brow Stylist Boost & Set Brow Mascara

I am that person that ALWAYS has my brows done. When I am in a hurry and don’t have time for all the steps, this brow gel can work in a pinch to add color and fullness.

3. Mascara – L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

Mascara is key to making your eyes look more awake and alive. My current favorite is the L’Oreal Lash Paradise that makes your lashes long and full and it never smudges.

4. Bronzer – Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer

Using a bit of bronzer on my cheeks always makes me look a little less like I’ve been sitting inside studying for days, and a little more like I am still on summer break at the pool. The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer is very natural and makes application easy. It also smells like a tropical heaven AND is currently on sale at!

5. Lipgloss – Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb

Finally, I don’t go anywhere without my Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow. This product looks good on every skin tone and can really liven up your whole face. Rihanna always has our back.

These 5 steps are my go-to during busy times of the year. Makeup is meant to be fun, and whether you do zero, all or even more than this, that’s totally cool! You do you boo.

Beauty that Doesn’t Break the Bank

If you are anything like me, you know the dreaded feeling of running out of your favorite foundation, knowing that you will have to return to Sephora to spend another $40 on a bottle that will run out again in another two months. You know what it’s like to check out at Ulta, hear your total and feel your stomach drop a little bit. I hate these feelings with such a passion that I have discovered a few ways to avoid them, while still feeding my unhealthy makeup addiction

1. Only purchase high-end products that will last a long time.

Some products run out much faster than others. Foundation, concealer and mascara are a few examples of things that I find myself repurchasing around every two to three months. Other products like blush, highlighter and eyeshadow tend to last much longer.

In order to save money, I limit myself to only purchasing those products that I will not have to buy again for a long time. I allowed myself to splurge on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Highlighter, whose gorgeous golden glow has been used on my face every day since I bought it in March, with no end in sight.

2. Find the best of the best in drugstore and affordable makeup

Thanks to YouTube, it is so easy to find out where to find the best products in Walmart or CVS. Find a YouTuber who has a similar skin type to you and watch a few reviews of drugstore products. Soon, you will be a master at finding the hidden gems in the sea of Walmart makeup.

In addition to drugstores, there is an endless amount of affordable makeup brands that can be found online. My favorite is ColourPop, who has unique and trendy products for very low prices. They also have sales often and are always coming out with new products.

3. Take advantage of sales

While they are few and far between, stores like Sephora and Ulta do occasionally have sales on high-end products. If there is a new product I am eyeing, I try my hardest to wait until the next VIB 15% off sale at Sephora or 21 Days of Beauty at Ulta.

While these small discounts aren’t much, every penny you save is a penny that can be used on more makeup, am I right?

These small strategies for saving money on beauty products can help you keep up with new trends in makeup, pay rent AND have #NoRegrets.
